Trying out 40W laser and rotative module

Here’s an attempt to laser engrave a bottle of wine.

First I had to extends the length of the rotative module to support 30cm or more, and to build some props to be able to attach the bottle. The props are made of TPU to allow for a few millimeters difference in bottle diameters. The rotary plate extension is accurate in height to the tenth of millimeter (according to my caliper :-))

For those interested here’s a few helper STL :

I tried so far two laser settings :

• 400mm/min at 100% power : failure.
• 400mm/min at 30%power : much better (picture below)
• Next time I’ll try to double the speed and raise power to 40%, to lower the engraving time (currently around 15 minutes) and compare the engraving quality.
